IPC 2008 Exceeds Expectations

The 7th International Pipeline Conference held in Calgary from September 29 through October 3, 2008, exceeded all expectations as 1400 delegates from 40 countries attended this year’s conference at the Hyatt Regency Calgary and the TELUS Convention Centre.

During three days of the conference, dmg world media produced the International Pipeline Exposition where 4,000 pipeline professionals visited the 200 international exhibiting companies.

Organizers for both the conference and the exposition were extremely pleased with the quality of the attendees and the fact that they indicate worldwide representation.

The IPC 2008 Technical Committee’s program consisted of 17 tutorials, 6 panels and 355 high quality technical papers presented during the five days by authors from over 21 countries.

IPC was honoured to have as the Conference Vice Chairs, Gerry Protti, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Relations, President, Offshore & International Division, EnCana Corporation and Sheila Leggett, Vice-Chair, National Energy Board (NEB).

The Organizing Committee put together an interesting program of keynote speakers consisting of Hal Kvisle, President and CEO, TransCanada Corporation; Dr. Neil Thompson of CC Technologies/DNV Global Pipeline Director; Brenda Kenney, Ph.D., P. Eng., President of the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association and Krista Edwards, Deputy Administrator, Pipeline & Hazardous Materials, Safety Administration (PHMSA), US Department of Energy.

To give delegates an opportunity to network in a more casual atmosphere, the IPC organizers featured luncheons and receptions and closed with the ever-popular Wild West Theme Party.

Thanks to the support of hundreds of members of the pipeline industry who participated in IPC/IPE 2008 whether as volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, or attendees, this world-renowned conference just keeps getting better and better.
