Conference organizers are developing technical tracks to enhance the opportunities for attendees to hear and participate in discussion with industry leaders in the topic areas of their choice. Topic areas include, but are not limited to:

Track 5: Facilities Integrity Management

This session is all about managing the integrity of assets inside a fence and not on a pipeline right of way. Historically these assets have not been subject to the same type of scrutiny as pipeline assets but requirements are changing.

Guidelines for Abstracts
The abstract should emphasize the significance of the results and/or major technical merits of the final paper. Abstracts should be approximately 300 - 400 words in length and must include full names, addresses, telephone and/or fax numbers, and email contact information of the author/s. In the case of multiple authors, please indicate one primary contact.
The official language of IPC 2012 is English. All presentations must be in English. All presenters must be fluent in English.
When considering whether to submit an abstract, be advised that if the abstract is accepted (upon review), authors will be invited to submit a formal Draft Paper in a full-length Technical Presentation format. Short papers (as defined by ASME Guidelines) will not be accepted for IPC 2012.
Review Criteria
Abstracts will be judged on their content pertaining to new knowledge or experience/test results and their technical merit and interest relative to the conference. Authors shall avoid commercial references within their abstracts and papers.
ASME author guidelines will be followed; the link for the guidelines can be found at http://www.asme.org/kb/proceedings/author-guidelines.
Final paper acceptance will be at the discretion of the Technical Committee.
Abstract Submission
Abstracts may be submitted online to the Conference WebTool. The link to the Conference WebTool is now open for submissions at https://www.asmeconferences.org/IPC2012/Author/NewAbstract.cfm. The deadline for submission of abstracts is November 30, 2011.
All abstract submissions received on or before November 30, 2011 will be entered into our draw to win one of two Apple iPads (provided their abstracts are accepted and the authors subsequently attend to present their papers at IPC 2012), generously donated by sponsor Petro-Line Upgrading Services Ltd. The draw will be held on a future date and winners will be notified by email, announced on the Web site, and presented at IPC 2012.
When your abstract is submitted to the Conference WebTool you will be notified of your abstract confirmation number.

Publication of final paper/s is subject to author/s commitment to attend and present their paper/s at the conference and will be at the discretion of the Technical Committee.
The Technical Committee reserves the right to require a pre-paid deposit prior to approving authors’ papers for IPC 2012.
*At the time of submitting a full-length draft paper (February 13, 2012), authors are advised to initiate the VISA application process, if required, for travel to Canada to present an accepted final paper. We have experienced issues in the past where VISAs were not received in time, and papers needed to be omitted or withdrawn as a result.

Tutorials
Tutorials are intended to provide information to conference participants, which will enhance their ability to enjoy the conference. Persons interested in providing a tutorial for IPC should contact the Conference Technical Coordinator at info@InternationalPipelineConference.com
Poster Sessions
Poster sessions provide an opportunity for authors to present their paper in a different format than traditional oral presentations and will be held throughout the conference based on interest and space availability. Interested authors should submit abstracts to the Conference WebTool, https://www.asmeconferences.org/IPC2012/Author/NewAbstract.cfm.

Student Paper Competition
Graduate and Undergraduate Students are invited to participate in the sixth Student Paper Competition to be held in conjunction with IPC. Details of the competition can be found at this link. The deadline for Student Competition abstract submissions has been extended to December 14, 2011.

A covering letter from your supervisor stating that you are a student in good standing may be requested.
